Willie E. Garner

Mr. Willie Eugene Garner was born on March 10, 1956 and departed this life September 26, 2019 at his home. He grew up on Burton Street in West Asheville, and was the son of the late Margret Mitchell Garner. His God Parent's were Mrs. Beatrice and Mr. Jimmy Garner. He attended Asheville High School, and afterwards honorably served in the United States Air Force.  Willie was employed at the VA Hospital, where he worked until retirement. 

He loved fishing and hunting, but most of all he really loved his family which was so important to him. Those who knew him knew he was a very kind hearted and compassionate person. Willie was truly a blessing to his family.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother Freddy Mitchell. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Angela Buchanan (Phillip) of Hendersonville, two grandchildren, Daniel Parker and Desiree Buchanan of Hendersonville, four brothers, James Mitchell, Booker T. Mitchell, Danny Mitchell all of Asheville, and Teddy Simpson of Portland OR, four sisters, Patricia Mitchell of Patterson NJ,  Beverly Mitchell of Tampa FL,  Diane Mitchell Kemp of Swannanoa and Veronica Martin of Atlanta GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Garner will be held Friday October 4th at 10am, at God's Promise Church located on 40 Bartlett St. Burial will immediately follow at the Western Carolina Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain.
