William Alfred Corpening (Will) was born to the late Doris and Kenneth Corpening in Old Fort, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Abby Corpening, sister, Rev. Teresa C. Kelly; brothers Allen, James Edward and Kenneth Corpening Jr.
Will attended elementary school in Old Fort, NC and was a graduate of McDowell High School, in Marion, NC.
He proudly served his country as a soldier in the Unites States Army from June 1976 until May of 1979.
He was known for his excellent skills as a handyman. He also had a love for cooking which led him to employment in the fast-food industry.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Wilma J. Lytle of Black Mountain, NC, brother, Paul Corpening (Sherry), Columbia, Mo. and sister-in-law, Pam Corpening. He was also blessed to have a host of nieces, nephews other loved ones.
A Memorial Service to honor the life of William will be held Friday, August 1, 2025, Catawba View Baptist Church (141 Albert Joyner Rd, Old Fort, NC) at 12pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
