Vickie Karen Lester

Vickie Karen Lester was born March 30, 1954, and departed this world on August 9, 2024. She graduated from Asheville High School in 1972 and later in life, she graduated from Shaw University. She worked for several banks in Asheville, and Friedman's Jewelry Store before retiring. Vickie served on the Buncombe County HeadStart Board and was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she worked tirelessly for the Lord.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents James and Betty Lester, grandparents Charles Melvin and Aileen Metz, uncle Charles "Sonny" Metz, and other relatives and friends. She now joins them in Heaven. Left to cherish her memories are her child Ladonna, grandchildren Chayla and Ramond Lester, all of Asheville, her siblings Windy, Charlotte, Rodney, Wanda, William and Melvin Lester all of Asheville, 2 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and close friends.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Vickie will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church (56 Walton St.), at 1pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. Viewing will be held on Sunday at Avery's Memorial Chapel from 1pm to 5pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
