Timothy “Tim” Lodis Burdine went to be with our LORD on January 24, 2026, at the age of 74. Born in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina on December 7, 1951, Timothy’s life was full of Love and Kindness to all who crossed his path.
Tim grew up with a love of sports. He was an all-around athlete who played baseball, football, and basketball, with the latter two being at a semiprofessional level. Anyone who knew Tim knew he was an avid football watcher and a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He worked for the Asheville Transit Authority for over 30 years and was known as one of the friendliest bus drivers in the city. After retiring, he went to work at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department, impacting many lives in a very positive way.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Nettie Sue Burdine, older sister Emma Jean Burdine-McClure, and older brother Robert Lee Burdine, who transitioned only hours before Tim did.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 50 years Sarah Burdine, children Timothy “Goodney” Burdine, Jr., and Patience Bright (Herman), grandchildren Amaria “Reeree” Burdine, and Hope Bright, brother Paul Burdine, Jr., (Brenda), sisters Jackie Littlejohn, Beverly Lindsey (Sam), and Debra Burdine (Darren), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends.
Timothy will be remembered not just by the time we shared together on this earth but by the legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that he shared with all those whom he met. Do not be sad, for he has not really left us. We all carry a piece of him with us in our hearts, and he will be watching from heaven laughing and smiling along with us.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Tim and a Memorial Service to honor the life of his brother Robert will be held simultaneously on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church (146 Pine St.), at 1pm. Tim will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 12pm – 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
