Takisha "Shaunda" Hunter, 40, received her wings on Sunday December 1st at Memorial Mission Hospital.
Shaunda was born in Asheville, NC on December 21, 1978 and was a resident of "Diaper Hill" (Lee Walker Heights). She attended Asheville High School, where she enjoyed running track. As a teen mother, she graduated from BCS with honors, setting a good example in spite of all the odds against her.
She was affectionate, loving, caring, funny, kind and devoted. Shaunda loved her grandchildren and spent a great deal of quality time with them. Goldie, her dog whom she loved dearly, had a special place in her heart as well.
Shaunda is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Sally "Snook" Gaines, special aunt and best friend Beverly, nephew Keyon Hunter, and special uncle Ronnie "So So" Vance.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother Cynthia "Nee Cee" Hunter, father Charles Ailes, grandmother Ruth Ann Ailes, daughter KeyShaunna Ellington, sons Carl Lee Ellington Jr. and De'Vonte Ellington, grandchildren Kimani Porter, Kani Porter, Klehani Harden-Ellington and Kree Porter, sisters Carlotta Hunter, Demetria Ailes and Kimberly Thomas, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and many friends. Shaunda was blessed to have a wonderful friend and father to her children, Mr. Carl Lee Ellington Sr.
A Memorial Service for Ms. Takisha Rashaunda Hunter will be held Friday, December 13th, at 12:00 pm at Brown Temple CME Church, 32 Phifer St., in Asheville.
