Mr. Sidney William "Sid" Butler III, age 61, of Black Mountain, went quietly on Monday, June 12, 2023. He was born in Loudon, Tennessee on April 04, 1962 to the late Sidney William Butler II and the late Sarah Margaret Baxter.
Mr. Butler graduated from McDowell High School and attended NC Central University, and then in the United States Marine Corps. A faithful member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church, he was known to love all types of sports, especially football. Everyone knew he loved the Pittsburg Steelers and the North Carolina Tarheels. In his younger days he enjoyed basketball, baseball, track and football. He also enjoyed music, fishing, cooking, and drawing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Johnny Alexander Lindsey, grandparents William Hall Lindsey and Sarah Pearson Lindsey, four uncles Allen Eugene Lindsey, Benny Lee Lindsey, William Hall Lindsey, and Charles Ray Lindsey.
Survivors include his only child, Ijuana S. Butler of Raliegh, two brothers Keith R. Butler Sr., and James A. Butler, 5 granddaughters Tashiyah S. Butler, Temazia A. Butler, Tomarah L. Butler, Tehya Y. Jones and Teagan J. Jones, one uncle James "Tody" Lindsey, two aunts Yvonne Lindsey and Sheila Lindsey, one niece Ajouli S. Walton (Julian), two nephews Keith R. Butler Jr. (Krystal), and Jeremiah R. Butler, three special cousins Nikeya Lindsey, Chibreia Lindsey and Antoine Lindsey, two special long time friends who were also brothers to him, Floyd Wynn (Rhonda) and Charly Gaddie.
A Memorial Service to honor the life of Mr. Sidney "Sid" Butler, III, will be held on Thursday June 15, 2023, at Mills Chapel Baptist Church (328 Cragmont Rd, Black Mountain), at 2pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
