Sadie Ellen Houston

Sadie Ellen Houston 89, was called home January 2, 2021.

Ms. Houston was born May 19,1931 in Asheville NC.  She was the daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Honey) Houston, raised on Cumberland Pl. in Asheville.

Sadie worked as a domestic worker for the late Walls and later retired doing the same with the Hambrights. Sadie was a faithful member of St. Mark AME Zion, Solid Rock and Shiloh AME Zion church, Sadie was a loving friend and family member who never met any strangers.

Sadie was preceded in death by parents, Richard and (Honey) Houston and all of her siblings, Catherine, Irene, Aileen, Bobbie, Richard and Vernon.

Surviving family left to cherish Ms. Sadie are children, Patricia Houston Blair (Wendell Blair) and Stanley Houston, grandchildren Keith, Wendell (Skip) Jr and Patches Blair, great grandchildren Patricia (Trish), Sha’keya, Tamara, Keith, Shanequa, and Tiara Blair great great grandchildren Eniyah, Elijah, Kayden, Isaiah (Sam), Kay Kay, Camerian, Carter, Kyus, Blair and extended family and friends.

A Graveside Service honoring Ms. Sadie's life will be held Monday January 11, at 1pm at Sunset Cemetery. Viewing will be held Saturday from 2pm to 6pm, and Sunday from 1pm till 5pm at Avery's Memorial Chapel.
