Robert Lee Petty, Sr.

Robert Lee Petty Sr., 77, of Asheville passed away Sunday April 12, 2020 at the Charles George VA Medical Center. He was the son of the late Ervine Jones and the late Annie Petty. He worked at Mission Hospital for 45 years, and was the first African American team member of MAMA Transport, the Neonatal Ground Unit, and was the Clinical Practitioner of the Year in 2007.

Robert is survived by his wife Gail Sligh Petty, sons Kevin, Michael, and Robert all of Asheville and Simon Gordon of Fayetteville, daughter Tracy McCarson of Atlanta, brother Ervine Petty of Asheville, cousin Nancy Grant of Asheville, and sister-in-law Louise Siler of Greensboro.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Viewing for Mr. Petty will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Friday April 17th from 11am - 4pm, Saturday April 18th from 1pm - 4pm, and Sunday April 19th from 1pm - 4pm. He will be laid to rest during a private family ceremony.
