Phillip “Phil” Eugene Hill, a life-long resident of Asheville, NC, died unexpectedly on August 31, 2025, at the age of 52 years old at Mission Hospital.
Phil worked on production at Milkco Inc. for 5 years. He was born on October 2, 1972, to Jaqueline “Jackie” Hill and Granville Davis Jr. Phil attended Asheville High School and was part of the class of 1991. He enjoyed playing poker, shooting pool and fishing. Phil had a passion for cooking and enjoying life. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He was our rock, because Phil not only took care of his family, but he also took care of many, many others.
He was preceded in death by his father Granville Davis Jr., his maternal grandmother Gladys Hill Featherstone, his paternal grandfather Granville Davis Sr., and his paternal grandmother Linda Lee Davis.
To cherish in his memory, Phil leaves his loving mother Jacqueline “Jackie” D. Hill of Asheville, his amazing children that he loved so very much Rashad Coleman of Charlotte, Jabria Hill of Asheville, Mahogany Hill of Asheville, DeKyia Hopkins of Asheville, and DeMarco Hopkins of Harlan, KY, his only granddaughter that he adored and loved dearly MaZuri Hill of Asheville, his significant other Betty Young who loved him dearly, his aunt for whom he was the son that she never had Sandra “Tricia” Hill of Asheville, his uncles for whom taught him many things about life Tim Hill of Asheville, Ronnie Simpson (Taralyn) of Asheville, and Jerry Hill (Lori) of Hickory. He also leaves three very close cousins that he loved as sisters Deondra “Shanae” Sexton of Charlotte, Tameka Hill of Asheville, and Kissi Jones of Cross Hill, SC, his brother's (you didn't often see one without the other) Johnny "BB" Sanders, Eric "Wiggy" Griffin, Jermaine Aiken, Victor "Moon" Gist, and Andre Griffin, in addition to many, many other cousins, loved ones, and friends whose lives Phil touched!
A Funeral Service to honor the life of "Phil" will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church (100 Carroll Ave.), at 1:30pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Sunset cemetery immediately following the funeral. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 1pm - 5pm.
