Paul Rout, Sr.

Paul Rout Sr., at the age of 80, transitioned to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Chandler Creek Post Acute in Greer, South Carolina. He was a native of Asheville, North Carolina, born on August 16, 1943. He was the son of the late John Henry Rout, and the late Sallie Lou Rout.

 Paul attended Stephens Lee High School, and he was an employee of Asheville Buncombe Technical College for 35 years. He also was an entrepreneur. 

Paul was proceeded in death by his son Paul Rout, Jr., brothers John Rout, Jr., and Harden Rout, and sisters Pauline Peak and Mamie Bell Rout.

Surviving to cherish his loving memories include daughters Chrystal Townes (Kevin) of Greenville, South Carolina, Bernita Barnard and Vanessa Barnard both of Asheville, North Carolina, sons John U. Rout (Jeree) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Elton Camp (Evonne) of Greensboro, North Carolina, sisters Gloria Cunningham (Robert) of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary Lou Rout of Bowie, Maryland, several grands, great - grands, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Paul Rout, Sr., will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church (56 Walton St.), at 12 pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (1 Chapel of Faith Drive, Candler, NC). Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Friday September 22, 2023, from 12pm to 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery’s Memorial Chapel’s Facebook page.
