Otis McIntosh Obituary

Otis S. McIntosh, age 76, of Asheville, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Asheville, NC. He was born on March 2, 1949, in Asheville.

 

Otis proudly and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, reaching the rank of  Captain for 11 years, exemplifying discipline, courage, and unwavering commitment to his country. After completing his military service, he went on to retire from the City of Asheville, continuing a life rooted in service to others.

A gifted athlete, Otis attended and graduated from Western Carolina University, where he was an outstanding football player. In recognition of his athletic excellence and lasting impact, he was inducted into the Western Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997.

Otis was a man of faith and a devoted member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence, where he worshiped as a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmira and Otis McIntosh, his brother Stanley McIntosh, and his sister Judy McIntosh Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years Sandra K. McIntosh his children Leisha Roseboro Patterson (Tim), Corey McIntosh, Michael McIntosh, and Paul McIntosh, his grandchildren Theodore Lee Allen, III, Timothy Patterson, Jr., Tisoko Patterson, and Timia Patterson, and his beloved great-granddaughter Nasiima Allen, and brother-In-law Ralph Compton, Jr.

He is also survived by his siblings Lease McIntosh, Joe McIntosh (Susan), Rose “Vicky” McIntosh, Charles Oliver McIntosh, and Carl Murray, two special godchildren Tiffany Means, and Cyesha Baird, special friends Celia Lytle, and Kayla Hemphill, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Care Partners Solace Center, and Mission Hospital for their exceptional care and support.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Otis will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (102 Andrews Pl, Swannanoa, NC), at 10:30am. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 5pm – 8pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page. Burial will be held at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10am.
