Oneida Swinton-Lambert died on October 23, 2018. She was born on June 29, 1949. She is the daughter of the late William Henry Swinton and Allie Katrina Collins.
She attended Asheville City Schools and graduated from high school in 1967. After struggling through odd jobs, she knew she needed more. She traveled a while before settling in Brooklyn, New York where she married and had a son, Errol Lambert. After years in retail business, she moved back south. Following a legacy of caring and compassion, she chose a career in the medical field. Health problems caused her to cut her career short after some twenty-odd years. Upon returning home, to be closer to her ailing mother, she completed business courses. Some of her other interests beside writing include singing, recording, and writing music and playing bid-whist.
In addition to her parents, Oneida is preceded in death by her siblings, Billy Bacon, Bernard Bacon, and Belinda Collins.
Left to cherish her memories is her son Errol Lambert, siblings; Benjamin Evans, Theodore Swinton, Chris Collins, Eric Collins, Alethea Collins, Julianna Ingram, Paula Collins, Amy Collins, and grandchildren; E.J. McAfee, Tyrae Johnson, Jasmine Rogers, many other relatives and friends.
Services for Ms. Swinton-Lambert will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 2:00pm at Brown Temple CME on 32 Phifer Street, Asheville, NC. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service.
