Nathaniel Leon Crosby

On April 17th 2021, Nathaniel Leon Crosby, son, brother, father of four beautiful children, uncle, and beloved teammate, suddenly passed away at the age of 31.

A native of Lenior NC, Nathaniel relocated to Asheville at a very young age. While in Asheville, Nathaniel attended Asheville High School where he excelled in athletics, becoming a member of the Asheville High football and wrestling teams.

Nathaniel will forever be remembered by his mother Brunilda Vasquez, as her baby boy. Being the youngest of four, as a child he was bright and full of energy with the power to light up any room. These qualities would follow him into adulthood. Brunilda often referred to her son as “her ball of fire”. Nathaniel’s sisters, Stephanie Watson and Rahesia Jackson share this sentiment:

“To know Nathaniel was to love him. He was our little big brother.” Nathaniel’s older brother Floyed Vasquez will always recount the infinite memories he shared with his little brother.

Nathaniel will live on in sprit through the lives of his children, Zariah Marie Crosby, Zion Lee Crosby, Na’Vee Marie Underwood and Nyla Leona Underwood. Nathaniel will forever be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Nathaniel Crosby will be held on Saturday, April 24th at 2pm at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church located on 47 Eagle Street, Asheville, NC. Viewing will be held from 11am - 7pm on Friday, April 23rd at World Wide Baptist Tabernacle, located on 85 Choctaw St. in Asheville NC. Services will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
