Mildred Ophelia Wiggins

Mildred Gardner Wiggins left this earthly tabernacle on April 13, 2021, to be with the Lord. She was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late Jesse and Katie Moore Gardner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vernon Wiggins Sr., sisters Addie Futrell and Margaret Freeman, brothers Willie Lee Gardner, Esau and Jacob Gardner, and Jesse Gardner Jr.

Surviving are her children Vernon Wiggins Jr., Roger Wiggins, Deirdre Canty, Pamela Telford, grandchildren Paige Byrd and Danielle Telford, brothers Columbus and John Gardner of Swannanoa and best friends were Mary Etta Wilson and Roberta Sullivan.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Wiggins will be held on Tuesday April 20th at 2pm at Hopkins Chapel AME located at 21 College Place. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Swannanoa, NC.  Services will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
