Mildred Sue Jane (Burgin) Humphries

At the age of 91, Mrs. Mildred Sue Jane Humphries,  transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 12, 2023.  She was preceded in by her Father, John Carter Burgin and Mother Nora Maggalene Whittington Burgin.  Her husband, Dennis L. Humphries, a son, Johnny Keith Humphries, sisters,  Margaret Burgin, Angeline Hough, Beulah Sloan, Ruth Burgin, Edna Davidson, Annie Mae Burgin.. brothers, Earl Burgin and James Burgin, Sr. 

Those left to cherish her memory children, daughters Carolyn Pitts (Isaiah deceased),  Charlene Humphries and Deborah Humphries all of Asheville, NC. Sons, Terry Humphries (Nancy), George Humphries (Regina) both of Asheville, NC and Joseph Humphries (Janet) of Raleigh, NC.  A sister, Ruby Sloan of Spartanburg, SC.

She had (12) Grandchildren, (36) Great  Grandchildren and (2) Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Mildred Burgin Humphries, was born in Swannanoa, NC and moved to Asheville, NC at a young age and lived there until Her death.  Mildred worked several jobs, and retired from Memorial Mission Hospital after working there for 24 years.  She was a member of Sycamore Temple Church of God In Christ were she was a faithful member and served a few years as President of The Prayer and Bible Band and served on the church Mother's board. She was a quiet woman, who spoke few words and loved to serve the Lord with all her heart.  She will be very much missed  by many and especially her loving family.

A funeral service to celebrate Ms. Mildred Humphries will be held at Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church (146 Pine St.) on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 1:00PM. Interment will be held immediately following service at Violet Hill Cemetary (454 Hazel Mill Rd).
