Michael Lewis White, 72, died unexpectedly in his home on May 16, 2018. Michael was born in Philadelphia, PA to Caleb and Elizabeth Bradshaw White on April 29, 1946. He attended Philadelphia public schools and was a star track runner in high school. In 1975 he married Kathryn Wolf and moved with his new bride to Asheville. Michael worked for Wilsonart for several years and was later employed as a Stock Manager for Walmart. He retired from Walmart in 2012.
Michael was an avid jazz enthusiast and collected the works of many great jazz musicians. He loved sports and shared this interest with his son. Michael was an easy–going, caring person who was admired and respected by all who knew him.
Michael was proceeded in death by his father, Caleb White; his brother, Charles Preston; and his niece Kimberly Wolf.
He is survived by his 100 year-old mother, Elizabeth Bradshaw White; wife, Kathryn; son, Michael II (Angie) of Tampa, FL; sister, Janice White of Asheville; brother-in-law, Samuel Wolf, Jr, “aka Stitchie” of Philadelphia; 2 nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
The viewing will be held at Avery Memorial Chapel, 542 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC on Tuesday, May 22 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Shiloh AME Zion Church, 95 Shiloh Road, Asheville, NC on Wednesday, May 23 at 1:00 PM. A reception in the church hall will follow the service.
