Michael Robert Petty went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Michael graduated from Asheville High School in 1991. He was employed by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department from 1993 until retiring in 2023 with 30 years of devoted service. As a small child with his grandmother and family, Michael attended and was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church. As an adult, he truly enjoyed watching his children participate in their chosen sports over the years. He was a very proud father!
Michael was proceeded in death by his grandfather Gilbert Sligh, grandmother Mary Sligh, and Father Robert Petty, Sr.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Nikki Petty, and to carry on his legacy are his children Kaylan Petty, Kyra Petty, Michael Petty and Ayanna Petty. He also leaves behind his mother Gail Petty, brothers Kevin Petty and Robert Petty, Jr., mother-in-law Janice Loggins, brother-in-law Justin Wilson (Kristin), two grandchildren Ava Petty, and Armon Waters, several nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
Nikki would like to acknowledge two very special people to her and Michael, who have been there from beginning to end, Felicia Hamlin and Brandon Rich. Thank you both so much for your love and support during this difficult time.
