Michael Ramon Blocker, age 53, transitioned into eternal rest on November 17, 2023. He was born to the late Carolyn Peppers on January 7, 1970. As an infant, he was adopted by the late Edward Blocker and Cheryl McConneyhead. Family and friends affectionally knew Michael as “Ray” or “Ray-Ray.” He was a native of Asheville, NC, and then moved to Spartanburg, SC, later in life. He was a 1989 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School.
Michael was employed for over 20 years with J&S Cafeteria in Enka-Candler, NC. He was an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers football team and was a lover of music. He enjoyed spending time with family and walking around meeting new people. Those that knew him, knew he had a good heart. He was extremely outgoing and never met a stranger. His laughter was one of a kind and he was truly a beacon of light for all who he encountered.
Other than his mother, he was also preceded in death by his adoptive parents Edward Blocker and Cheryl McConneyhead, grandmother Ida Mae Littlejohn, and father-in-law, Gilbert Bernard Hall Sr.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Melissa Blocker, daughters Jasmine Blocker (Byrd) of Asheville, and Janella Bonds (Nate) of Spartanburg, SC, son Christopher Blocker of Spartanburg, SC, cherished granddaughters Kasiyah, Leilani, Lyric, Aiyannah, and Karter, grandsons Nasir and Boston, sisters Stephanie Foster of Asheville, NC, Sharida Turner (Warren) of Greensboro, NC, and Joni Ali (Sharif) of Raleigh, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends that will miss him dearly.
A graveside service to honor the life of Michael will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Violet Hill Cemetery (454 Hazel Mill Road), at 12 pm. Viewing will be held on December 8, 2023, at Worldwide Tabernacle (85 Choctaw St.) from 2pm to 7pm.
