Marquita Laurice McCants departed this life at Memorial Mission Hospital Campus on August 6, 2021.

She was a student at Asheville High and attended AC Reynolds.

Marquita was a very loving person. She loved her kids and family. She was a compassionate person, and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Marquita is preceded in death by her Aunt Gloria Wright (Levern), grandmother Willie Colhen Morris, great grandmother Marie Berry, great grandmother Ellen Williams, uncles Darryl and Christopher Morris, great uncles Lewis Swann and Michael Berry.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents Valerie Smith and Rickey Morris, her brother Troyce McCants, her children Kyle and Omarion McCants, grandparents Edith J. McCants, Robert L McCants Sr., aunts Robin McCants and Benita McCants, uncles Robert L. McCants Jr., Stanley Morris and Charles Morris, great aunts Celestine, Helen, Rachel, Phyllis, and Loraine McCants.

“God, she is with you now and she knows her worth and will never lose that contagious smile of hers."

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Ms. Marquita Laurice McCants will be held on Saturday, August 21st at 2:00pm at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church located at 146 Pine Street in Asheville, NC. Viewing is scheduled for Friday, August 20th from 11:00 am- 7:00pm at Avery’s Memorial Chapel, 542 Hendersonville Road, Asheville NC. The funeral will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
