Levi Isaiah Gassaway

Levi Isaiah Gassaway, age 25 of Weaverville, NC, was born April 3rd, 1996 and entered Heaven on April 26, 2021. He was the breath that we breathe and will always be the light of his mom, dad, and brother’s world. He loved his big brother Luke, who was his best friend, his family, and a host of other friends.

He was fiercely loyal to them all. Levi enjoyed discussing history with his Papaw Jack and sports with his Papaw Jim. He adored his Tanny Gloria and his Mamaw Sarah. He always enjoyed family gatherings. He held a certain love for his family that was above even himself. He never left without saying “I love you.”

Levi was a 2014 graduate of North Buncombe High School, where he had many friends and participated in school sports and extracurricular activities. He liked to travel to the beach during Summer months and enjoyed skiing and snowboarding in the Winter. He was a part of the North Buncombe Youth League where he excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and wrestling. He was a member of Richland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his parents Carol Jean Crayton and Jack Richard Gassaway II, both of Asheville, and his older brother, Luke Gassaway; maternal grandparents Rev. Jim T. and Gloria W. Crayton; Paternal grandparents Rev. Jack R. and Sarah W. Gassaway; Uncle Jimmee Crayton; Aunt Amanda (Victor Rigsby); Cousins Ashley R. Jacobs, Hannah Rigsby, Tori Rigsby and Caleb Rigsby; His beloved best friends Kate and Dakota Baldwin, and many other extended family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held at Richland Baptist Church at 41 Chestnut Ridge Road in Asheville, NC.  with visitation beginning at 6:00 pm. The service will be at 7:00 pm.

Officiating the service will be Rev. Jim Crayton and Rev. Jack R. Gassaway. Committal will be 10:00 am, Friday April 30, 2021 at Elk Mountain Cemetery, in Woodfin, NC. Services will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
