Latonda Gaines Whitmire was born March 12,1966 to Joann Gaines and Thomas Kelly both of Asheville, NC. She departed her earthly life on December 25, 2021.

She attended Asheville High School and graduated with the class of 1984 with Honors.

She was a very loving, outgoing, and caring person who was always willing to help the next person in any way she was capable of. Loved by her family and many friends, she will be missed dearly.

Latonda was proceeded in death by her mother Joann Gaines, her father Thomas Kelly, her sister Maleeka Gaines, and her son Robert Whitmire Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Brittany Whitmire, son Terrell Whitmire, twin Sister Moronda Gaines Allen (Bruce), brothers Bryon Gaines and Thomas Gaines (Rebecca), grandson Dominique Hunting Jr., special aunt Dianne Logan, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Mrs. Latonda Gaines Whitmire will be held Friday, January 7th at Pine Grove Baptist Church located at 11 Pine Grove Ave. in Asheville at 1pm. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 6th from 11am - 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Face Book page.
