Juanita Aiken was born October 10, 1935 in Asheville North Carolina to the late Estelle Phillips Aiken and the late Will Aiken, and departed this life on Saturday July 4, 2020 at Mission Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Stanley Aiken, siblings Geneva Phillips, Farrah Aiken, Josephine Smith, Dorothy O’Hannon, Henry Aiken, Barbara Robinson, Joe Aiken, Lula Mae Smith and William Aiken.
During her life, Juanita was a long time member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and Community Baptist Church. She attended Stephens - Lee High School, and later received her GED from Asheville - Buncombe Technical Community College. She worked at Mission Hospital’s Council on Aging, enjoyed crocheting, working her cross word puzzles, and time with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Audrey Aiken (Ralph), Estelle Watts (Walter), and Virginia Sibert (Frank), sons Larry (Tracie), Wilbert-Lee (Toni), and Jermaine (Lisa), 12 grandchildren, 33 great–grandchildren, 8 great-great–grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other friends and family members.
A celebration of life for Ms. Juanita Aiken will be held Saturday July 11, 2020 at World Wide Baptist Tabernacle located on 85 Choctaw St. at 2pm. Burial at Sunset Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Viewing for Ms. Aiken will be held at Avery’s Memorial Chapel on Friday from 10am – 7pm. Services will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
