Joseph Wilfong Obituary

Joseph Romeo Wilfong was a simple man—never one for the spotlight but always there when you needed him. Whether it was with a smile, a joke, or a kind word, he had a way of making people feel at ease.

Born in Hendersonville, North Carolina, to Charlie Wilfong and Annie Mae Madden, Joseph grew up with strong family values. He graduated from Edneyville High School and later served in the United States military, showing his dedication and commitment to something bigger than himself.

He loved the simple things—fishing, good conversation, and spending time with family and friends. If you knew Joseph, you knew he wasn’t about big speeches or fancy things. He was about showing up, lending a hand, and making sure the people around him were okay.

In his later years, he became a voice for his community, not because he wanted attention, but because he cared. He spoke up for what was right and made sure his neighbors were heard.

Joseph leaves behind two daughters, a grandson, four brothers, and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly. But if he were here, he’d probably just tell us to smile, take care of each other, and keep moving forward.

Rest easy, Joseph. You were loved. You will be missed.

Public viewing to honor the life of Joseph will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Avery's Memorial Chapel from 10am to 3pm. He will be laid to rest during a private family memorial at a later date.
