Jon enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Denver Broncos and the LA Lakers. He had a love for antique classic vehicles, and his last antique vehicle was a 1986 Chevy Blazer. Payton, Jr. (Karen), and Charles Ray Payton, (Cindy) all of Asheville, sisters Sandra Jennings and Melody Millsaps both of Asheville, and Violetha Littlejohn (Billy) of Brevard, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends.
