Jonas “Rock” Wynn, 81, of Mill Spring, North Carolina, was born May 13, 1943 in Lincolnton, GA to the late Tom Partlow and Lillie B Wynn; he transitioned to his heavenly home on May 6, 2024. Though a native of Lincolnton, GA, he lived in Brevard, NC before moving to Hendersonville where he spent most of his adult life. He is preceded in death by his late wife Lois Wynn, sister Peggy Hackler and daughter Pamela Pickens.
Jonas graduated from 9th Avenue High School in 1962 and went on to spend over 40 years stealing hearts at the Hendersonville Country Club and Pardee Hospital as Head Chef. Following his retirement, he opened Sugars Grocery on First Avenue in Hendersonville. He loved Nascar, woodworking in his shop, and working on cars.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: sons, Jonas Wynn (Keisha), James Wynn (Neomi), Lacy Pickens (Pamela); daughters, Paula Wynn, Dorothy Hutchison, and Janet King (Willy); sisters, Paulette Wynn, Jacquelyn Wynn, Alice Smith, and brother Bobby Smith; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his heartstrings Travis Bradford, Noah and Stephanie Brown.
Jonas had a kind, warm spirit. His witty and personable nature won him the respect and love of many people who will miss him dearly.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Jonas will be held on Monday May 13, 2024, at Star of Bethel Baptist Church (105 N. Whitted St., Hendersonville, NC) at 1pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery immediately following the service. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
