John William (Billy) Gilliam Sr., 77 transitioned from “Life” to “Life Everlasting” on Monday, October 25, 2021.
John leaves his wife of 57 years, Brenda Quick Gilliam to cherish their memories. John is predeceased by his parents, Rev. Willie T and Dorothy Arnold Gilliam, sister Elmira Hunter, brother Wayne Gilliam and grandson Patrick Gilliam.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: John Jr. (Sharon) of Albuquerque, NM, Darren (Kim) of Arden, and daughter Tammy Kelly (Fred) of Travelers Rest, SC. John also leaves four siblings: Gloria Ballard of Asheville, Shelby T. Gilliam of Concord, NC, Williette Darity (William) of East Highland, CA, and Robin Sloan of Stonecrest, GA. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren; Kendall, Bria, Ophia, Tameka, Alia and Starla, great grandchildren; John and Brielle.
John always had a love for life and muscle cars especially Oldsmobiles as he owned three 442’s. John had a love for people as in his careers at: Beacon Manufacturing, Roadway Trucking Company, Continental Trailways Bus Line. and Lowes.
He was always surrounded by people who were attracted to his kind heart, encouraging words and smile. Billy or Pa, as he was affectionally called by everyone, love to watch Washington Football with grandson Patrick and being outside. He loved watching his kids, grandkids and great grandkids with pride and joy as they were the sparkle in is his eyes.

Viewing will be held on Friday, November 5th at Avery's Memorial Chapel from 11am until 7pm. Mr. Gilliam will be laid to rest during a private family memorial.
