Jessie Louis Mickler was born on September 14, 1949, as the only child to the late Ruby Henderson and the late “Mickie” Mickler. He was affectionately known to many as “Boo” or “Who Boo”.
He attended Greenville County schools in South Carolina. Following his “Sister” Margaret, he later relocated to the Bronx, New York, where he went on to further his education and received numerous Certifications through Job Corps of America.
He spent years working in retail, which was not a surprise due to the fact that Boo loved to dress. He was always “Dapper”. He modeled for numerous agencies while in New York City. Boo was an avid Sports fan and loved listening to music and shooting pool. He was also a custom printer and ran his own business for many years. Boo retired and returned to the South to be near his “Sister” Margaret / “The Subers” as he so affectionately called his Hendersonville Family; Jewell (Reggie), Keith (Suzanne), Sonia and Sohelia. Boo was a family man you could always count on. He joined Speak Life Church years ago and although he didn’t attend regularly, he loved the Lord! You could oft times find him praying, reading and studying his Bible. He desired a closer walk with GOD, and as his steps and breath became shorter, his intentions were obviously clear. He would say with a smile, “He was ready to see Jesus” or that he was “getting ready for the day of truth”. On December 6, 2023, Jessie made a peaceful transition from this world.
Left to cherish his memories is his “Pride and Joy,” his daughter Kim Belton (Larry, Jr.) of New York, Precious God-daughter Eustachia “Stacy” Johnson of PA, his heart strings, grandchildren Larry, III, and Dante Belton of NY, Michael, Eric, Tyesha and Mikey, all of PA, longtime companion Leverta Johnson of PA, life-long friends Marion Thomas “Margie” of Fl, Jeff Gant, Richard Atkinson and Anthony Dickens all of NY, friends Jeffrey Payne, Pedro Waddell and neighbor Jimme of Hendersonville, NC, great nieces Tierra (Linwood), Porshe (Andrew), Chantel, Neriah, Zylah, and Shynice (Charles “Mo”), and great nephews, Zaire, Jakarri, Gavin, Mateo and Roman. Boo was blessed with a host of family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
A Memorial Service to honor the life of Jessie will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Speak Life Community Church (400 1st Ave. W. Hendersonville, NC), at 3pm.
