Mr. Jerry Jerome Clayton was born on March 17, 1950, in Asheville, and after a short fight with an illness, he departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Elizabeth House Four Seasons Hospice in Hendersonville.
Jerry was the last of five children. He was born to the late Isaac Samuel Clayton and the late Helen Moore Clayton. He attended South French Broad School and worked at J&S Cafeteria. Jerry’s Passion was sewing, cooking and cleaning houses for anyone that needed him too. His niece Georgia Scott was his “Ride or Die” partner, while his niece Gwendolyn Wilson was his caregiver. Jerry loved them both dearly!
Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Isaac Leroy Clayton, and sister Helen Marie Scott.
Other's left to cherish his memory are his sister Barbara Allen (Arnold), of China Grove, NC, brother Deacon Leon Clayton (Teresa), of Atlanta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Jerry will be truly missed by everyone that knew him.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Jerry will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church (146 Pine St.), at 3pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 12pm - 7pm.
