Jeannette “Peaches” Mayfield was born November 7,1955 to Howard and Lucille Camp and baptized at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Orlando, FL. As a military daughter, she traveled across the world, visiting Germany, France, Africa, Italy and Greece.
She met Reuben Mayfield in 1976 in Ayre, MA, married him in 1977 and gave birth to their only child, Reuben Israel Mayfield, later that year in Asheville, NC.
The family then moved to Greenville, SC. Peaches was a devoted member of First Christian Fellowship for ten years, participating in prison outreach ministries in Cross Anchor, SC. She returned to Asheville in 1993, where she worked at Mission Hospital and Brooks-Howell Home as a housekeeper. Although a private person, Peaches was well-known by many, loved by staff and residents alike.
Surviving are her parents Howard and Lucille Camp (Stafford, VA), her son, R. Israel Mayfield (Russell) (Asheville, NC), brother Ronald Camp (Atlanta, GA), aunts Pearl Sewell, Barbara Jean Andrews, and Rose Anderson (Orlando, FL), cousins Gene Harris (Orlando), Roshelle and Ken Jones (Aurora, CO), Jimmy Andrews (Orlando, FL) and a host of cousins and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at World Wide Baptist Tabernacle Church located at 85 Choctaw in Asheville, NC. The service will be at 12:00 pm and will be lived streamed on Avery’s Memorial Chapel Facebook page.
