James "JD" Edward Davis

Minister James “JD” Davis, 64 of Asheville, NC was born December 6, 1957. He went home to be with the LORD on Monday July 4, 2022. JD was the son of the late Calvin Davis, Jr. and the late Lula Mae Hammond Penland.

James attended David Miller Jr. High where he played in the band, and ultimately graduating from Asheville High School in June 1977. JD loved playing his bass guitar, of which he played for several bands with one of his best friends John Guillebeaux, Jr.

Other than his parents, James was also preceded in death by grandparents, Ocie and Calvin Davis, Sr., and Raymond and Bernice Hammond.

Left to cherish his memory are his stepmother Betty Davis of Arden, sons Jermaine Davidson, James Davidson, and Kristopher Davis all of Asheville, daughter Kesha Davidson of Atlanta, Georgia, sisters Katherine Morrison (Wilbert) of Harvest, Alabama, Chandra Jenkins and Gail Davis (Gary) both of Asheville, brother Curtis Davis of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and friends Raymond Sullivan, Sonny Mills, Frank Walker, and Darrell Jefferies.

James will be truly missed!

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Mr. James "JD" Edward Davis will be held on Saturday July 16, 2022, at Worldwide (85 Choctaw St), at 2pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday. Viewing will be held Friday from 12pm - 7pm at Avery's Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
