James Stephen Rice

James Stephen Rice went home to be with our LORD on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was a man of many words who was always ready with a song, joke or a line of wisdom. James was the son of the late Emma jean Carson and the late James Allen Rice.

If the music was just right, you might even get a dance. His skills with a guitar, bass and piano were phenomenal. When James pulled out his guitar, you knew a good time was about to happen. He loved his family and friends and was loved by so many.

other than his parents, James was proceeded in death by his sister Cleo “Cookie” Waters, and his son James Wilson.

Left to cherish fond memories are his Sister Patricia Griffin, Children James Steven Halloway (Chelsea), Lesley Penland, and April Gilliam, Grandchildren Sade, James Dj, Mariah, Anaya, Ayah, Desmond, Destrini, Daisea, and Zoe.

A Memorial Service to honor the life of James will be held on Monday, January 08, 2024, at Worldwide Baptist Tabernacle (85 Choctaw St.), at 2pm. 

The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
