Jamal Cash, Sr. Obituary

Jamal Marcellus Cash, Sr., departed this life January 29, 2026.  He was born August 9,1989, to H. William Cash, Jr., and Kenya Smith Hackett.

Jamal was educated in the Transylvania County School System until his junior year, and completed high school at Jones Senior High in Trenton, NC.

In elementary school and high school, Jamal entered talent shows showing his dancing skills, also becoming master of ceremony at one of the shows. Jamal excelled in a couple of sports such as track and football.

Jamal loved to sing, dance, play the drums and most of all he loved the Lord. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the tender age of 12 at Bethel A’ Baptist Church in Brevard, NC, under the late Pastor Fredrick L. Gordon where he began his walk with God. He enjoyed church and was an active member who was involved in youth programs, choir, Sunday school, vacation bible school, and drama.

After high school Jamal felt compelled to serve his country. So, in June of 2008 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the army for 3 years, due to medical reasons, he received an honorable discharge in 2011.

Jamal later married and had a son named Jamal Marcellus Cash, Jr. However, Jamal moved on in life and felt compelled and had a desire to find a church to worship no matter what life situations and challenges he faced. Jamal used his talent to play the drums in various churches in Spartanburg, SC. He became a member of Hidden Hill Baptist Church under his pastor Rev. Dr. Betty Crocker, where he played the drums for the praise team.

Everyone who knew Jamal knows he loved to laugh and play around and make you laugh. Whether he was singing, joking, or impersonating others especially his Granddaddy Bill. Jamal loved his family, especially his two sons, Jamal Marcellus Cash, Jr., and Elijah Wesly Cash. These two young kings were his heart!

Preceding him in death is his maternal grandparents Hermon and Clara Howell, Dennis Robinson, paternal grandparent H. William Cash Sr., and aunts Lisa Howell and Angela Cash.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents H. William Cash, Jr., (Liza), Kenya Hackett (Tedric), and Robert Williams, grandmother Barbara Ann Cash, aunts, Rev.
