Jacqueline (Jackie) Renee English, 63, of Asheville, NC passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. Jackie was born on July 23, 1960, to William and Josephine English of Asheville NC; they preceded her in death. Jackie was kind, outgoing, funny, and a loving soul who loved concerts and had a passion for fashion and makeup.
Jackie was baptized, accepted the Lord as her Savior as well as sang in the choir at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She served in the US Coast Guard from October of 1978 to May of 1979 and was honorably discharged. She was employed by the DeKalb County Police Department in Atlanta, GA for several years, then moved to Temple, TX in 2008. Jackie began civil service while working for the Doris Miller Veterans Medical Center in Waco, TX before transferring to the Olin E. Teague Veterans Medical Center in Temple, TX; where she was a supervisor.
Jackie leaves to cherish her loving memory; one son: Gary Champion of Temple, TX; one brother: Willam English of Asheville, NC; and one sister Cheryl (Keith) English-Long of Franklin, TN; nieces: Whitley English (William Castro) of Asheville, NC, Ariel Long of Franklin, TN; nephew: Nathan Long of Temple, TX; two great-nieces: Krisiah Bethea and Kioni Castro; extended great grandnieces and nephews: Tenea Johnson, Kamora Codrington, DiAri and Dimari Ridgeway, and two great-great grandnieces: DeAirre and Dekai Davidson; three aunts: Shirley (Ulyses) Relf of Silver Springs, MD, Virginia Clark of Miami, FL and Ann Woods of Greenville, SC; one uncle: MacArthur Ballard of Brevard, NC; and a host of cousins and other family members and friends whom will truly miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Josephine English; maternal grandparents: Marshall and Juanita Ballard; paternal grandparents: Curtis English, Sr., and Ellen English.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Nazareth First Baptist Church, 146 Pine Street Asheville, NC 28801, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing an hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Keith Long will present the Eulogy. Interment will be at Violet Hill Cemetery, Hazel Mill Rd, Asheville, NC. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 1pm - 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page. Arrangements were made especially for the English family and professionally directed by Avery's Memorial Chapel.
