Ms. Irene Theresa “Resa” Darity Williams departed this life peacefully at Duke University Hospital on Saturday, July 30, 2022. A native of Henderson County, she was born August 4, 1953 to the late Frank Darity, Sr., and Norma Gilliland Darity.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Darity, Jr.; sisters, Annie L. Coleman and Peggy Ann Darity.
Theresa graduated from West Henderson High School. She retired from Olin Corporation and worked closely with Ganly & Ramer Law Firm. She previously owned and managed a limousine service as well and worked with Trendsetters of Asheville.
She was highly educated and an avid traveler. She loved music, politics, and sports (die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan). She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Alice Ware of Charlotte, and Diane Parrish of Fletcher; brother, Alfonso Darity of Fletcher; special nephew and overall guardian Harry Coleman, Jr. (Pam) of Arden; special niece and caregiver Meka Nesby of Fletcher; Goddaughter, Brittany Bettini of Mills River; devoted uncle, Grafton Young, Sr. of Fletcher; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor Ms. Irene Theresa Darity Williams will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church (100 Carroll Avenue, Asheville, NC), at 11am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Theresa will be laid to rest immediately following the service at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery (67 St. John Road, Fletcher, NC)
