Henry Lee Moore, 74, of Asheville, passed away on January 6, 2024, unexpectedly and was surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
Henry was born on November 18, 1948, to the late Pearlie Mae Edwards Moore, and to the late Ora L.V. Moore in Huntsville, Alabama. After graduating from high school, Henry went on to serve in the United States Army from November 4, 1968, till June 3, 1970. He spent the majority of his life residing in Dayton, Ohio.
To know him was to love him. Henry's heart and smile could make anything happen, or get him out of anything. But there was "The Mischievous Grin", "We all knew what that meant." Henry had a passion for cars, his family, and loved watching army movies. Henry's passion for cars led him to open up his own detailing auto shop in Dayton Ohio, where he was able to work his passion and use the gift of his heart to help friends, family, and the community have clean and operable transportation. Henry loved fast cars, fixing cars, and putting the highways to the test with his cars.
Henry's heart was his greatest gift through the best or worse of any given time. Henry's heart always showed up even when he couldn't. His heart will live on through his children, family, and those who came to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by Mother Pearlie Moore, Father Ora L.V. Moore, Wife Rosetta Harris Moore, Brother Oary Moore, Jr., Sisters Berta Bone, Linda Moore, Lena Love.
Henry is survived by sisters Alice Chandler (James), and Mary Patton. His children Christopher Harris of Asheville, and Karla Mack of Concord, NC sisters Joyce Moore Graham (Michael), Mary Edmond, Janice Davis, and Phyllis Johnson (Lawrence). He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren Josiah Knox, Sydney Harris, Zaporah Knox, Marcus Gordan and Isaiah Mack, 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren Drayden Knox, Uzziah Knox, Anora Knox, Atlas Harris, and Juziah Knox, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other close friends.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Henry will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the River of Life International (826 Haywood Rd.) at 12pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will immediately follow the service at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 1pm - 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
