Hakimye Bethea was born September 14, 2001, to Danielle Bethea and Chantango Speight. He attended Asheville City Schools where everyone loved him. Hakimye worked at various jobs, but the biggest job he ever had and truly loved was taking care of his mother, siblings and his son. Hakimye was full of life with a contagious smile who loved cracking jokes, teasing and annoying the one’s he loved. He'd gotten pretty good at being a dad to his only son, whom he thought could do everything fast. Hakimye loved his cousins, whom they all had each other's backs no matter the case.
Left to cherish his memory is his son Suhmeir Bethea, mother Danielle Bethea, father Chatango Speight, brothers Torean and Nuri Bethea, and sister Malaya Bethea all of the home, honorary brother Nathan Woods, honorary cousin Joseph Bethea, paternal grandmother Carolyn Speight, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Hakimye was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Patricia Bethea, grandfather Ernest Jackson, great granny Viola Bethea, and several other uncles, aunts and cousins.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Mr. Hakimye Bethea will be held on Tuesday August 2nd at the Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church (100 Carroll Ave.), at 1pm. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Sunset Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
