Gerald "Rip" Eugene Smith

Gerald “Rip” Eugene Smith departed this life on Saturday, May 8, 2021. A native of Asheville, NC he was the son of the late Raymond Jr. and Lula Mae Aiken Smith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond “Junie” Smith III, Alvin “Stone” Smith; and his sisters Sandra Ellington and Janice “Jenny” Smith.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Nikeya Daquan Dillingham and Simone Akai Blackwell, granddaughter Destiny Shelena Gilliland, sisters Cathey “Cat” Smith, Maggie “Winky” Smith, Stella Smith, brother William “Billy” Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service for Mr. Gerald "Rip" Eugene Smith will be held Saturday May 15th at Nazareth First Baptist Church (147 Pine St.), at 12pm. The funeral will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's FB page. Viewing will be held on Friday May 14th at Avery's Memorial Chapel.
