Elmer Harper, Jr. Obituary

Elmer Harper, Jr., went home to be with our LORD on Saturday August 3, 2024.

Elmer Harper Jr. was born January 22, 1977, in Asheville NC, to Elmer Harper Sr and Mary Brown Harper. He departed this life to enter eternal life, as God called him home on August 3, 2024, while under the extraordinary care of the wonderful staff members within the CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.

Elmer graduated class of 1995, from A C Reynolds High School. He loved his teachers, classmates, and held a special bond in his heart for his football teammates and coaches. He proudly and fearlessly played the positions of "Fullback" and "Linebacker", as the great number 45. After graduation he attended Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College, then attended Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota. Elmer was employed by Sysco food distribution for 18 years and made a positive impact within the community he served.

Elmer was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend to everyone who was blessed to cross paths with him. He enjoyed going to the gym, riding his motorcycle along the parkway and with his motorcycle club "Legendz", traveling, and supported his niece, nephew, and step-daughter throughout their travel sporting events. He was a "Die Hard" Dallas Cowboys fan, as Emmitt Smith was one of his all-time favorite players.

He was proceeded in death by his father Elmer Harper Sr, grandparents Thurston and Minnie Brown, Elmore Harper, and Ruth Petty.

He leaves to cherish his memories is his mother Mary Brown Harper, sister Lisa Harper, son Brycen Harper, daughter Ava Harper, and stepdaughter Aubriella Covington. Special friend Angelia Bender, niece Shaneysha Tomes, nephew Keishaun Tomes, great niece LaMirra Douglas, and two great nephews Alexander Douglas and Hezekiah Payton. He also leaves to cherish his memories, several aunts and second mom Martha Boyce, uncles, cousins, and a dear and close friend/brother Jonathan Lewis.

Elmer fought hard throughout his battle with cancer, he faced many obstacles both highs and lows over the months. However, he always remained in positive spirits, humble, and faithful. He was a rare jewel, that imprinted upon the lives of those who were blessed to get a glimpse. He will forever be missed, in our hearts, and never forgotten. One thing Elmer wished to communicate and advocate for is the importance in attending regular healthcare visits and listening to your body. Early detection is important in this cancer battle.
