Mrs. Elizabeth Bradshaw White, 103, was born in Asheville, North Carolina on December 14, 1917 to the late Reverend James Turner Bradshaw and Dolly Brown Bradshaw. She went home to be with our LORD on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
She attended Shiloh Elementary School and graduated from Allen High School. Elizabeth was married to Caleb White, who died in 1999, and they were the loving parents of three children. She grew up in Asheville, but lived the majority of her adult life in Philadelphia, PA, where she was active in the Senior Citizen’s Center. After more than 75 years in Philadelphia Elizabeth returned to Asheville in 2013. Upon her return to Asheville at the age of 97, she continued to be an engaging member of her family. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. Elizabeth was a voracious reader, often reading one or two books per week. She was a vibrant, “feisty” and caring person who was loved by all who knew her. Having lived for more than a century, she had many wonderful family stories to share.
She was proceeded in death by her sons Charles Preston White and Michael Lewis White, her twin sister Isabel Bradshaw White, and nine other siblings.
She is survived by a daughter Janice White of Asheville, daughter-in-law Kathryn White of Asheville, grandson Michael White II (Angie) of Tampa, FL, a nephew Burton Bradshaw (Mary) of Charlotte, NC, nieces Anita White-Carter of Asheville and Harriet Woodard (Floyd) of Indiana, and a host of grand, great-grand, and great-great-grand nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
The viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel, 542 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC on Thursday, September 23rd from 10am - 7pm.
