Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother and Friend, Elizabeth Sullivan Campbell age 98 died on Monday, November 2nd. She was born August 13,1922 to the late Jesse and Etta Glenn Sullivan.  She was married to the late James Campbell, Sr.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church of Asheville for 91 years, where she served as Chairperson of the Deaconess Ministry, Usher Board, and the Missionary Ministry. Mother Campbell also was a member of the Citywide Ushers Union, Deaconess Council of Asheville, and was one of the original members of The Royalettes Social Club which began in Lee Walker Heights and was founded by Ms. Pauline Worthy.

Mother Campbell enjoyed her family, going to church, working puzzles, and watching Nascar racing.

In addition to her mother, father and husband, Mother Campbell was preceded in death by her son Charles (Bean) H. Campbell, great-great-grandson Dre’Vion Shelton, brothers Clifton Sullivan, John Edward Sullivan, and Danny Lee Sullivan, and sisters Rachel Hill, and Nancy Lee Logan.

Left to cherish her memory are her children James Campbell Jr. (Vivian), Carolyn Duckett (Hubert), and Jeffrey Campbell, 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 33 great-great-grandchildren, brother James Sullivan (Dorothy), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friend / caregiver Sarah Weston Hart. Because she was the oldest member of her church, she considered all the Pine Grove members as “her children."
