Debra Gail Young Boyd was born in Anderson County, South Carolina on May 26, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Earlene and Lee Roger Young. She was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday August 13, 2020.
Debra retired from Charles George VA Medical Center after 35 years of service in food and nutrition. She received numerous plaques and pins for providing exemplary service. She was a member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church. Debra never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off her back.
Ms. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents Earlene Ellington and Lee Roger Young, brothers Richard and Leroy Young, sisters Doris Whitson, Carolyn (Chucky) Love, Rachel Young, Kathy (Barry) Shippy, and Hilda Mae White, and brother-in-law Gary Muckelvene.
Debra is survived by her daughter Kevia Smith of Asheville, sons Cedric Boyd (Brandie Wishon) of Marion and Dameron King (Heaven Leigh) of Black Mountain, grandchildren I’anya Rice, Aria Rice, Aiden Shivers, Charity King, Royal King, and Majesty King, brother Elder Lee Roger (Bishop Angela) Young, Charles (Shirley) Young, sister Teresa Muckelvene, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life for Ms. Debra Boyd will be held Saturday August 22, 2020 at New Mount Olive Baptist Church located on 2 Herman St. at 12pm. Burial at Violet Hill Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral. Viewing for Ms. Boyd will be held at Avery’s Memorial Chapel on Friday from 10am – 7pm. Services will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
