Daisy M. Smith

Daisy Mae Smith, age 64, departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Smith and Rissie Lumpkin. Her paternal grandparents, Stell and Bernice Smith. Her maternal grandparents, James & Mae Lumpkin (lovingly called Big Daddy and Big Mama), and her brother, Billy Lumpkin.

Daisy was loved deeply by her family.

She spent her life being a devoted follower of Jesus. She could always be found telling someone about her love of God and of the love of Jesus. Daisy had an incredible zest for life and was always learning.

She attended Western Carolina University and UNCA college.  Daisy served in roles of Teacher, Counselor, mentor, prayer warrior and dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Daisy led many study groups, community events, and more. She spent countless hours poring over God’s word, reading books and sharing her love of God with her family and friends.

She was an amazing storyteller; a gift she inherited from her father, James Smith. They both, could capture a room with their compelling, and hilarious stories. She often told family stories to her siblings and other family members and now, her family will carry those wonderful stories with them.

Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her three sisters, Doris Alexander, L. Michelle Smith, and Shidonna Smith. Her “Ma” Marva Campbell. Nieces and nephew; Rissie Alexander, Tiffany Jackson, James Smith, and Shay Nash. Grand nieces and nephews; Lamont Alexander, Jye Jackson, Lamyia Scott, India Jackson, Lamariya Scott, Kendall Jackson, Jamontae Smith, Ariel Siebert, Bryanah Nash, Jazmyne Nash and Lamarcus Smith. She has a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and friends.

While her family will mourn and miss her physical presence here on earth, we are comforted that she is now in the presence of the almighty God and her beloved ancestors. We shared our beloved Daisy with the world, as she went out to spread the love and redeeming power of Christ, through his shed blood.

The Memorial service to honor Daisy, will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024,1:00pm at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church at 100 Carroll Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801
