Cynthia Benthia Jackson, aged 68, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in Asheville, NC. Born on August 3, 1956, in Washington DC, Cynthia was a cherished figure known for her passionate, loving nature and unique sense of humor, resonating deeply with those around her.
Cynthia graduated from Suitland High School in 1975 and furthered her education at Prince George’s Community College, where she studied radiology. She dedicated 20 years of her career to Walmart, where she retired as a store manager. Beyond her professional life, Cynthia loved to engage in her church at WNC Baptist Fellowship Church in Asheville, where she was a beloved choir member. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and playing card games, reflecting her meticulous and engaging spirit. Cynthia was the matriarch of her family, always providing support and laughter.
Cynthia is survived by her four children Niana S. Battle, Ronald D. Howard, Regginald D. Howard, and Recardo D. Howard, her siblings Walter L. Dickerson, Sheri B. Jackson-Mercer, and Gary F. Jackson, daughter-in-law Shamika D. Howard, her cherished eleven grandchildren Shakira Allen, Nija Jeter, Keyonna Battle, Quantika Brannon, Ockeyana Williams, Raheem Howard, Kiara Battle, Bryanasia Carter, Reilly Howard, Tysean Holloway, and Kiaree Holloway, as well as seven great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Cynthia will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church - ELCA (10 N. Liberty St.), at 11am. She will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Avery's Memorial Chapel from 12pm - 6pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
