Charles Antwan Whitener was born January 30, 1980, in Asheville, NC. He entered his rest on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Asheville, he was the son of Angelique D. Scott and the late Charles Bruce Davenport.
Charles attended Asheville High School. He also played football for a brief time with the Asheville Grizzlies League. Charles loved spending time with family, and he was well liked by everyone that knew him. No matter where he was everyone always spoke highly of his demeanor as a young man. Respect always came first in his book. He would always say, "I was raised to be respectful and kindhearted."
Charles was current employee of MOOG, LLC in Asheville, NC.
He’s preceded in death by his father Charles B. Davenport, brother Ruben A. Ramirez, Jr., grandmothers, Mildred Sartor Whitener, Sarah Ruth Redmond, grandfather Milton H. Manning and great-grandmother Ruth Bell Robinson.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother Angelique D. Scott, aunt Ruth D. Smith (Gregory), uncles James R. Redmond, Tony Dail, Brother Ernest R. Scott IV (Tiffany), sister Bianca Scott-Bennett, brother Dominique Edgerton, sisters Kenyatta Davenport, Tasha Davenport, Christina Edgerton, special cousins Gregory S. Smith, Melissa C. Smith, 11 nieces and nephews, and special friend Courtney Walker.
A Memorial Service to honor the life of Charles Antwan Whitener will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 10am at Worldwide Baptist Tabernacle Church located at 85 Choctaw in Asheville. The service will be lived streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel Face Book page.
