Charles David Harris Sr. (Chuck), 64, of Asheville, NC peacefully passed away on February 5th, 2022 after a battle with a short term illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God ultimately gave him peace.

Charles was born to the late Larry and Maggie Harris in Dayton, OH. Charles was fiercely passionate about his children, grandchildren, and his church family at Sycamore Temple. 

He graduated from Trotwood High School in Trotwood, OH at the early age of 16. After graduation he went on to study at Knoxville College in Knoxville, TN where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in physical education. During his undergrad there he was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He worked for many years in the vocational services field as a job coach. He was a great leader, coach, and mentor to many in his community especially young adolescents. He impacted so many lives and was a positive influence to many. One of his biggest accomplishments was becoming an ordained minister in July 2021.

Charles was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father two his two boys CJ and Chad, and the best pawpaw to his grandbabies Nyla, Ava, Layla, and Chandler. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family. 

Charles was predeceased by his parents Larry and Maggie Harris. 

He is survived by his two sons; Charles Harris Jr. (CJ) and wife Christina of North Carolina and their children Nyla, Ava, Chandler and Layla Harris. Chad Harris and fiance Ashley Geer of Florida. Charles is also survived by former wife and mother to his children Aundrea Harris of South Carolina. In addition to four brothers and two sisters; Larry  Harris Jr. of Ohio, Harold and wife Carol Harris of Illinois, Harry and wife Lorene Harris of North Carolina, Michael and wife Lydia Harris of Mississippi, Laura and husband Jesse Sumlin of Ohio, and Marsha (Faye) Hammett of Ohio.  He has 12 nephews and 7 nieces and many great nephews and nieces.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Mr. Charles David Harris Sr, will be held Tuesday, February 15th at Sycamore Temple Church of God in Christ located at 11 N. Anne Street in Asheville at 1 pm. Viewing will be on Monday, February 14th at Avery's Memorial Chapel and an hour prior to the service.  The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Face Book page.
