Chaplain Robbie J Williams

Chaplain Robbie Jean Williams was called to her eternal rest on February 24, 2024. Born on January 29, 1946, in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of Robert Gash and Edna Mae Ashley.

She attended Shaw University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management & Accounting. In 1992, she received her diploma from the North Carolina Academy of Cosmetic Arts.

On September 15, 2011, she was commissioned Chaplain-Minister through theological endorsements, professional training, and certification. She served as Vice President of the Baptist Minster Union and Assistant Pastor at WNC Baptist Church. She is a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

A proud phenomenal woman of integrity, perception, discernment, and the love for the Lord, Robbie dedicated her life to the community of Western North Carolina. She was an exceptional businessperson, administrator, and organizer.

She was co-founder of a non-profit organization One Youth at A Time: Business Owner “A Vision of You” beauty salon and instrumental collaborator in the start-up WNC Baptist Church. She has received numerous awards and special recognitions, congressionally, regionally, and locally for her sacrifices of time and resources throughout Western North Carolina.

Chaplain Robbie is lovingly remembered by her daughter Atonna Renea Webster and brother Phillip Eugene Ashley of Asheville, NC. Her memory is cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son Willie Devon Williams III, Father James Robert Gash, Mother Edna Mae Ashley, sister Antonette Barksdale, brother James Robert Gash III, brother Ernest Charles Gash, and brother Richard Gash. Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Robbie will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the WNC Baptist Fellowship Church (240 Haywood Rd) at 11am. She will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be held at Lewis Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service. Viewing will be held at Worldwide Baptist Tabernacle (85 Choctaw St.) on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 3pm - 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
