Cecil Douglas Moore, affectionately known as “Big Doug”, departed this life peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
A native of Asheville, NC, he was born March 29, 1969, to the late Rev. Cecil J. Moore and Vivian L. Conley. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Rosie Conley, uncles James, John, and Alvin Conley, and paternal grandmother Fannie Moore.
Doug graduated from T.C. Roberson High School in 1987. After graduation, he worked for many years as the manager at Chammies Car Wash.
Doug was known for his BIG SMILE and infectious laugh and making those around him laugh. He loved to grill and called himself a “grill master.” If you knew him, you know that he was the biggest Pittsburgh Steelers fan and defended them no matter what the outcome. Steelers 4 Life!
“Big Doug” will be greatly missed by so many.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother Vivian L. Conley of Asheville, sons Douglas M. Moore and Cameron L. Moore of Asheville, brother Roy L. Moore of Asheville, sister Michelle L. Moore of Georgia, uncle Charles W. Conley of Asheville, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
