Catherine “Cat” Conley Higgins of 6 Park Ridge Court, Asheville NC died on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Universal Healthcare in Fletcher. She was born in Mars Hill, NC to the late Earl and Etta Conley.

Mrs. Higgins loved spending time with her four-legged companion Cocoa. Some of her hobbies included sewing, collecting presidential coins, collectable dolls and teddy bears. She also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and watching the home shopping channels for fashion because she loved looking her best.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Jerome S. Higgins, Sr., son Charles Higgins and son-in-law Robert Poore.

Surviving her is her son, Jerome S. Higgins, Jr., of Asheville; three daughters, Sarah Poore of Raleigh, Linda (Carl) Ellerbe of Asheville/Atlanta, Theresa Higgins and special friend Michael Dillard of Asheville, two brothers; Earl Conley of Asheville, Harold Conley of Asheville, four grandchildren; Ava Tinch, Patrick (Talisa) Poore, Robert Poore, Charles Poore, six great grandchildren; Ariana, Fredrick, Laila, Josiah, Nile, Bryndon, four great-great grandchildren Ke’Mora, Camari, Devere, Samiyah, two nephews Tony Conley and Eddie Conley.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Mrs. Catherine “Cat” Conley Higgins will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, April 22nd at Hill Street Baptist Church located at 135 Hill Street in Asheville. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 21st at Avery’s Memorial Chapel, 11:00 am – 7:00pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at Mount Olive Cemetery in Mars Hill, NC.
