Carl Lee Ellington, Jr. aka Rod (Flacco Valentino) 24, gained his wings on January 30, 2022, in his hometown Asheville, NC.

CJ was born in Asheville on December 22,1997. He attended Erwin High School, where he enjoyed wrestling.  He graduated on June 17, 2017.

He was a loving father, brother, son and friend.  To all who knew him he brought nothing but laughter and knowledge. Even if you didn’t know him, by the end of the conversation you gained a friend.  He loved his children, niece and nephews.

CJ is preceded in death by his mother Takisha Rashaunda Hunter, grandparents, Willie Ruth Ellington, Eugene Ellington and cousin Kevon Ailes.

Left to cherish his memories is his father Carl Lee Ellington, Sr., children; K’lenani Hardin-Ellington, Zaven Hudgins, Zylone Ellington, sister KeyShaunna Ellington, brother Devonte Ellington, grandmother Cynthia Hunter, nephews; Kimani Porter, Kani Porter, Kree Porter, Colle’ King, niece Kyrielle Martin-Ellington, aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong partner Zianna Hudgins.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Carl Lee Ellington will be held on Saturday February 12th, at 3pm at Nazareth First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church located at 146 Pine Street in Asheville. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Violet Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Friday February 11th, from 10am - 7pm. The funeral service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
