Brian George Byrd, 52, passed away on September 18, 2025. A lifelong resident of North Carolina, Brian was known for his unwavering work ethic, his deep love for family, and his quiet strength. He spent the majority of his career in HVAC, where his hands-on skill and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Brian is survived by his four children—Brandon Speer (wife Erika Speer), Brandy Byrd, Wendy Olivera-Thomas (husband Jesus Olivera-Thomas), and Sydney Byrd—and by his three stepchildren—Adrian Keener, Darrah Holzberger, and Kaitlyn Holzberger. He was also a son to Emily Byrd and a brother to Michael Ward. Though he and his wife Amy Byrd were no longer together, they remained close friends and shared a deep bond built over 35 years. Brian spent the last 25 years in a committed relationship with Joanna Holzberger, his significant other, who heartbreakingly passed away just one day after him—a testament to the profound connection they shared.
He was a proud papaw to eight grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
To those who knew him, Brian was more than a father—he was a superhero, a best friend, and a guiding light. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Brian was laid to rest during a private family memorial.
